Château La Commanderie

Château La Commanderie is a smaller 6-hectare property in Saint-Émilion that can date its history back to the 13th century. During the Middle Ages, its land was planted with vineyards to provide wine for the Commandery of Knights and Monks of St. John of Jerusalem. Its current owners, Thibault and Magali Decoster, purchased La Commanderie in 2004. They also own Clos des Jacobins. Once they owned the château, they invested in renovating the cellars and changed the way the vineyards were farmed (they now use organic methods and practice sustainable agriculture). The wine is produced with a dominance of Merlot (80%) with the rest being Cabernet Franc.
