20 years of the legendary Colore inspired Bibi Graetz to create three special wines representing the DNA of Colore and its marvellous heritage.
On 28th February 2023 ARVI took part to the exclusive online global preview tasting of Bibi Graetz’s BALOCCHI DI COLORE. More than 20 different countries were connected at the same time and Bibi Graetz in person has guided all of us and our guests through the tasting, discovering the hidden gems that combined create Colore.
“Colore is my first love – a wine that truly ignited my passion for old vines and their propensity to grow worldclass grapes. The climate in 2020 was warmer than usual and gave us a powerful, complex vintage. The combination of our old vines, high-altitude sites, and their exposure created a magical effect. A wine with a perfect balance and lively tension, in which the character of the vintage dances harmoniously with the elegance of our Sangiovese. We came full circle in 2020, and I genuinely think we made the best Colore we’ve ever made”
“Balocchi” in Italian means toys, given to children to play with. Bibi Graetz is excited to present for the first time his Balocchi di Colore: three special wines made with autochthonous varieties of Canaiolo, Colorino and Sangiovese that were carefully selected from the oldest parcels of the historical Vincigliata and Olmo vineyard, the new treasure in the Bibi Graetz vines collection. These three parcels reveal the DNA of the estate’s icon wine, Colore, and provide insight into its heart and heritage.
Balocchi di Colore N°1 – is a 100% Sangiovese from the Vincigliata vineyard. The parcel where Balocchi di Colore N°1 comes from is the first one in Bibi Graetz collection.
Balocchi di Colore N°3 – is a 100% Colorino from the Vincigliata vineyard. The parcel where Balocchi di Colore N°3 comes from is the third one in Bibi Graetz collection.
Balocchi di Colore N°8– is a 100% Canaiolo from the Olmo vineyard. The parcel where Balocchi di Colore N°8 comes from is the eighth one in Bibi Graetz collection. - Bibi Graetz
